Heartbreak

1:21 PM

Have you ever had a broken heart?
It's a pain that wastes no time;
you feel it right from the start.
Have you ever met someone who feels this pain?
Their eyes may turn cold;
they may build walls shackled with chains.
It's a pain that we all feel, one day or another,
it creeps in silence,
to destroy and to smother.
Such a devastating thing to witness and see,
as that person withers away;
throwing the lock and the key.

Have you ever loved with a broken heart?
It's devastating yet beautiful,
just like an art.
It's a kind of love that's cautious and wary;
calculated, heedful,
doubting, and scary.
Patience is needed for their walls are so tall,
because now they're prepared,
to break and to fall.

But if you are able to mend their heart,
please stay awhile;
don't walk away and part.
For a heartbreak is devastating anyone would agree,
but two heartbreaks is worse,
they'll crumble and plea;
They'll question why you came,
just to stay and then leave,
for you abandon them with this ache and self-shame.
They trusted, opened, and broke down their walls,
now they're burned by the fire,
feeling senseless and small.

Have you ever had a broken heart?
It's a pain that wastes no time;
you feel it right from the start.
